The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI), ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing infection data, presenting findings, recommending actions, and monitoring staff adherence to infection control measures. They develop and deliver education to staff, residents, and families, serving as a resource across departments.
Qualifications & Skills: Candidates must hold a nursing diploma (associate or bachelor’s), an active RN license, CPR certification, and specialized infection prevention training. Prior geriatrics experience and state-specific certifications (e.g., Certified TB Nurse) are preferred. Knowledge of infection control practices, public health advisories, and antibiotic stewardship is essential. They should be proficient in independent decision-making, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to policies and professional standards.
