What are the responsibilities and job description for the Main Office Secretary position at Plainfield High School?
Hourly rate & benefits are included in the Secretarial Bargaining Unit contract. Forty (40) hours weekly, 12-month position. Please note that should a union member be selected to transfer to this position, it could create a vacancy in another area.
General Description: The high school main office secretary is the central administrative hub of the school. They are typically the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, managing the flow of communication, scheduling, and information.
Key responsibilities often include:
- Handling phone calls and correspondence.
- Maintaining school calendars and administrative files.
- Assisting with various clerical tasks for the principal and staff.
- Providing a helpful and organized presence to ensure the smooth daily operation of the school.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or administrative training preferred.
- Prior experience in an office or school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Infinite Campus, CTSEDS, or similar student management software is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge in Google
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
