FOOD SERVICE WORKER
RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor, performs cashiering duties at an assigned school cafeteria, receiving cash/checks, accounting for monies collected, input information into District computer program, prepares and serves breakfast and lunch, keeps track of inventory and maintains associated records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ability to perform cashiering duties at an assigned school site cafeteria.
• Ability to complete cash count forms, prepare routine forms and reports associated with food services at an assigned school.
• Ability to maintain accurate records of cash received, reconciling cash to orders/sales.
• Receives, counts, batches and rolls currency, coin and checks received from school service operations.
• Keeps accurate student records in the District computer program.
• Prepares and serves food for breakfast and lunch.
• Operates kitchen equipment and keeps appliances and equipment clean.
• Stores unused food.
• Monitors monthly menus for variety, student preference and consumption.
• Communicates with Food Service Supervisor about all aspects of the program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records/reports related to the receipt of cash.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to operate an adding machine with speed and accuracy.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn the District computer program.
• Ability to make changes effectively and count large sums of cash with speed and accuracy.
• Read, write, and understand at the level required for successful job performance.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of basic kitchen machines and utensils.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience performing cashiering work.
• Knowledge and experience using computer hardware and software.
EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Position requires normal physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking.
• Lifting 50 lbs. maximum or carrying any object weighing up to 25 lbs.
