Qualifications:PKM Steel Service, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, routine repairs, inspections, and basic troubleshooting on industrial production equipment and facility systems.
The Maintenance Technician I is an entry/developmental level position for an individual with mechanical aptitude and a desire to develop a career in industrial maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Perform routine mechanical repairs and component replacement.
- Replace bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, rollers, motors, and other components.
- Assist with hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication.
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting and component replacement.
- Use a multimeter for basic electrical testing after receiving appropriate training.
- Read and follow basic mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist higher-level technicians with troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems preferred.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools.
- Ability to safely work around industrial machinery.
- Ability to work at heights and in various positions around equipment.
- Ability to work independently after training while knowing when to request assistance.
