Graphic Production - Zünd Digital Cutter Operator

The Zünd Digital Cutter Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing Pixelwerx's Zünd digital cutting system to produce high-quality finished products for a variety of visual communication, signage, graphics, and display applications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate Zünd digital cutting equipment.
• Prepare cutting files using Zünd Cut Center (ZCC) and verify proper tool paths.
• Review work orders and production specifications prior to production.
• Select appropriate tooling, blades, routing bits, and cutting methods for various substrates.
• Perform kiss-cutting, through-cutting, routing, creasing, engraving, and scoring operations.
• Load, unload, and handle materials safely to prevent damage.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
• Identify and correct production issues before they affect project quality or deadlines.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, calibration, and blade/tool changes.
• Report equipment problems and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe production area.
• Accurately record production time, material usage, and job completion.
• Assist with finishing, packaging, and other production duties as workload requires.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Designers, Prepress, and Production team members to improve workflow and efficiency.
• Follow all company safety policies.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating a Zünd digital cutter or comparable CNC digital cutting system.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read production drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with production software.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Zünd Cut Center (ZCC).
• Knowledge of large-format digital printing and finishing processes.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
• Safely operate material handling equipment.
• Work around moving machinery while following all safety procedures.
