Hospital Controller
We are looking for a Hospital Controller to join a private but growing company in Richmond, VA. The role is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. This includes supervising the Assistant Controller, managing departmental functions, and setting productivity goals. The position facilitates timely completion of budgets, cost reports, audits, and month-end close for the hospital and its COIDs. Key responsibilities include maintaining internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404, ensuring accurate balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing financial attestations. Additionally, the role involves selecting, training, and evaluating accounting staff to uphold high standards of technical expertise and service quality. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to foster open communication within the department and with hospital management are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial records are prepared in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with the monthly, yearly, & quarterly financial close process
- Review current processes to improve and develop new processes
- Review current internal control environment to improve and design new controls to mitigate risks
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree Accounting or Finance - Required
- Master's degree Business Administration in Accounting or Finance - Preferred
- 3 years of experience in Accounting - Required
- 5 years of experience in Accounting with 1-2 years’ experience supervising accountants preferably in a healthcare setting - Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant – Preferred
