This role is responsible for overseeing nursing services, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving resident outcomes, and supporting staff development. The Director of Nursing will promote a resident‑centered culture and ensure the delivery of high‑quality care.ResponsibilitiesNursing Leadership & OperationsLead and supervise all nursing staff within the skilled nursing center.Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workflow to ensure continuity of resident care.Assess the clinical environment regularly to ensure safe and effective care.Maintain communication with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.Resident Care OversightEnsure Resident Care Plans are accurate, current, and consistently implemented.Oversee documentation and follow-through of resident care procedures.Support residents and families during transitional and complex care situations.Collaborate with therapy, hospice, and other care providers.Quality Assurance & ComplianceLead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local long-term care regulations.Monitor medication administration, physician orders, and treatment accuracy.Prepare for surveys, oversee corrective action plans, and maintain regulatory readiness.Investigate incidents related to safety, care, and compliance as required.Financial & Administrative ManagementAssist with annual budget preparation and manage departmental expenses.Review financial statements and implement corrective action plans.Support staffing efficiencies, cross-training, and labor management.Team Development & EngagementRecruit, train, coach, and evaluate nursing staff.Lead employee engagement initiatives and foster a supportive team culture.Ensure timely completion of required training and continued education.Conduct performance evaluations and address performance issues when necessary.QualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required, MSN preferred.Minimum 2 years of nurse management experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.Proficiency with Medicare, MDS/RAI, and care planning processes.Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems).Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience.Health, Dental, and Vision InsuranceLife Insurance, Short‑Term and Long‑Term Disability401(k) with employer matchSign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.About UsThis position is offered through a national recruiting partner that specializes in connecting healthcare professionals with leading organizations across the country.
