SUMMARY OF JOB: The peer support specialist position helps enhance community inclusion, participation, independence, and productivity for individuals receiving services at Pivotal. Those eligible for this position will have lived experience and have received treatment in the public mental health system. Peer Supports Specialist will utilize their personal experience in recovery to install hope and understanding for others.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED. Personal/lived experience with a Mental Health Diagnosis, required. History or current recipient of mental health services (minimum of one year), required. Certification as a Peer Support Specialist preferred or willing to complete the certification process.

Specific Job Functions:

Physical Requirements:
Able to stoop, bend, lift, and carry 30 pounds.
Manual and digital dexterity is needed to complete case notes and operate a telephone, keyboard, and other office equipment. Able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Able to work in high stress/pressure environments with productivity standards and performance expectations.
Job Duties:
- Assist individuals in developing their own plans for recovery.
- Leads or co-leads peer-delivered recovery groups as assigned.
- Models appropriate and effective coping and self-help skills.
- Provides orientation and information about Pivotal programs.
- Assist with accessing mental health services, as well as other needed community services.
- Provides information and assistance in the following activities as assigned: preplanning, treatment planning, crisis plans, and self-determination.
- Assist individuals in securing appropriate housing and employment, as desired.
- Assist individuals with accessing entitlements (i.e., social security benefits, identification, birth certificates, insurance, etc.).
- Educate and promote individuals regarding personal self-help/care skills.
- Advocate for individuals to ensure non-discrimination and community inclusion.
- Provides case management related functions (linking, coordinating, monitoring, support, encouragement).
- Provide assistance aimed at supporting community functioning and independence (i.e., shopping, laundry, cleaning, budgeting, utilizing public transportation).
- Provides direction to staff in carrying out programs, services, and supports related to member’s needs.
- Completes all documentation in a timely manner according to Authority policy.
- Follows Company’s Code of Ethics, Corporate compliance guidelines, standards of business code of conduct and company policies, (such as attendance, punctuality dress code and work ethic).
- Protects client’s rights by maintaining confidentiality and reporting complaints, instances of suspected abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
- Attends and participates in staff development functions (such as required training and in-services).
- Completes annual training log by August 1.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.03 - $23.52 per hour
