Pittsburgh Tomorrow is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization charged with the mission to reverse population decline and revitalize the region. We accomplish this through a variety of strategic initiatives designed to attract and welcome newcomers, engage and connect current residents, and increase collaboration among the region’s leaders and organizations to catalyze action.
About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, strategic jack-of-all-trades who loves Pittsburgh and wants to join us in building a bright future here. You will join Pittsburgh Tomorrow’s marketing team, reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, and you’ll play an active role in all of our marketing efforts across channels: web, email, social media, PR, out-of-home and digital media, events, partnerships and influencers, and more. This role is perfect for a smart and savvy generalist who wants to learn hands-on and make an impact in the organization and the region.
Responsibilities
The goals of the Pittsburgh Tomorrow marketing team, and the ways in which the Coordinator will contribute to them, are:
Expand our organic reach on owned organic channels to build our movement
- Posting and community management on social media
- Assist with copywriting and content creation for social media
- Assist with website redesign and content maintenance
- Draft and send email newsletters to our audience
- Production assistance on photo and video shoots
Run national media campaigns to promote living in Pittsburgh in external markets
- Assist with strategy research
- Participate in creative brainstorming
Continue to leverage our local media partnership to change hearts and minds in the region
- Maintain publication and outreach calendars
- Assist with brainstorming for creative
Produce our event series, The Pittsburgh Tomorrow Intersection
- Create and post content for promotion of events
- Assist with event production
- Attendance reporting
Improve process and productivity internally
- Assist with weekly and monthly high-level reports on content performance
- Help maintain our content calendar
- Maintain our CRM/audience lists
- Daily sweeps for news/happenings in or about Pittsburgh
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Advertising, Journalism or similar, or equivalent related experience
- 1-3 years of experience in a marketing or communications adjacent role
- Excellent writer and high quality communications skills, both internal and external
- Critical thinker and active learner with an eye for strategy
- Self-starter, highly motivated and organized
- Passion for Pittsburgh and our mission
Desired qualifications
- Experience or willingness to learn marketing creative skills: video editing, graphic design, photography, copywriting,
- Experience or willingness to learn marketing analytics: social media analytics, Google Analytics or Ads, email marketing analytics
- Experience or willingness to learn marketing tools such as MailChimp, Squarespace, Canva, CapCut, and more.
