Custodian

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to join our Maintenance team at our main campus in Pittsburgh. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors at our aviation campus. Responsibilities:

• Clean and inspect restrooms, hallways, entryways, and common areas
• Sweep, dust, strip, and wax floors
• Empty trash cans and smoking receptacles
• Stock janitor closets and restroom supplies
• Set up furniture and equipment for events
• Patrol hallways and common areas for debris
• Inspect and clean restrooms
• Stock restrooms as necessary
• Inform management/supervision of any maintenance deficiencies
• Report maintenance issues to management
• Open and close campus buildings daily
• Perform outdoor cleaning tasks and occasional mail runs
  
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Traits:

• Basic technical knowledge of commercial cleaning supplies and tools, common power and hand tools, forklifts, and general maintenance equipment
• Problem solving, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills
  
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, lift up to 50 pounds at a time unassisted, and push/pull up to 75lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods (4-7 hours) throughout the day.
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed per OSHA/MSDS.
• Ability and willingness to work in an environment that involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, and which requires following basic safety precautions.
• Must be able to work hours outside of the regular work schedule or weekends, when required by management/supervision.
• Willing and able to work in the outside elements when necessary
• Must be able to use chemical cleaning solutions
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with cleaning tools, chemicals, and safety procedures
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed
• Must pass a background check
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
