What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Instructional Professor position at Pittsburg State University?
The Pittsburg State University School/Department of nursing is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of Nursing to teach and supervise pre-licensure nursing students in face-to-face theory and clinical courses. This position participates in planning and organizing courses and student experiences, teaching, and working with other faculty to coordinate curriculum content.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participates with other faculty members in course development, curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Coordinates and supervises teaching and learning experiences for students.
Maintains clinical expertise in specialty areas through continuing education activities and utilization of appropriate clinical resources.
Serves on university and departmental committees.
Provides leadership in interdisciplinary activities, i.e., voluntary health agencies, and other community agencies.
Participates in professional programs and organizations by accepting responsibility on local and/or state levels. Evaluates attainment of professional goals.
Recognizes areas of nursing research and demonstrates beginning scholarly abilities.
Collaborates effectively with colleagues in meeting the goals of the school.
Uses evidence-based teaching strategies to support student engagement and learning outcomes.
Duties include supervision of students in lab, simulation, and clinical practice, prepare and deliver theory and clinical course lectures, grade assignments, proctor exams, assist with test review, and other assignments as delegated by the School of Nursing Director.
Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) with MSN, PhD, EdD, or DNP in progress.
Must be eligible for nursing licensure in Kansas, Missouri, and other states as required or a multistate license.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
Preferred Education and Experience –
Completed Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP, by contract start date.
1 year experience in nursing education, teaching in theory and/or clinical setting.
1 year experience in Psychiatric/Mental Health.
