Position Summary

Pitman Farms is looking for a dedicated and motivated Farm Manager to oversee the daily operation of our live production farm in rural Bridgewater, VA. This position is responsible for managing farm employees, ensuring excellent animal care and welfare practices, maintaining equipment and facilities, and supporting overall farm performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is self-motivated, safety-focused, and committed to the success of our team and our birds.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise and support live production farm employees.
• Manage day-to-day farm operations and production activities.
• Develop and maintain farm schedules.
• Order feed and coordinate feed delivery requirements.
• Maintain accurate farm records and production documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all Pitman Farms animal husbandry programs, Best Management Practices, and animal welfare standards.
• Monitor bird health, care, and welfare in accordance with company and industry requirements.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and care of farm equipment and facilities.
• Perform general mechanical and equipment maintenance duties.
• Operate farm equipment safely and efficiently.
• Prepare barns between flocks, including:
• Removing old litter
• Washing and sanitizing facilities
• Installing fresh shavings
• Cleaning and maintaining water lines
• Maintain farm grounds, including mowing, driveway upkeep, and general property appearance.
• Identify and report safety concerns and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in agriculture, poultry, livestock, or farm operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and work effectively with others.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Commitment to safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity practices.

The successful candidate will be expected to reside on the property as part of this role.
