Description
Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our dynamic and busy team! The Human Resources Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support the effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. This is an office-based position, and is not remote.
Requirements
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource personnel files, paper and electronic records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Manages unemployment notices, ensuring timely responses and appropriate follow-up in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Oversee uniform ordering, distribution, and inventory control to ensure availability and accuracy.
- Supports recruitment and onboarding activities, including coordination and administrative support as needed.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll functions, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel to other branch locations.
- This position does not require previous HR experience. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, with the foundations of working in a busy office or work environment, and the ability to function independently and on a team.
Minimum Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent certification
- Prior related office experience preferred.
- Spanish-speaking employees are welcome to apply!
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
- Active driver’s license.
- Must have go-getter attitude, with the willingness to learn and have fun!
