What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Director of Nursing Services | Southern Ohio Region position at Piqua Manor?
Position Summary: Mobile Director of Nursing Services develops, implements, and maintains all nursing procedures and guidelines (e.g. Administrative Manual, Nursing Procedure Manual, Infection Control Manual, and QAPI Program) in assigned care communities as well as any other required assistance to guide the operation of the nursing department.
Position Responsibilities:
* Implements specific nursing programs through the nursing process.
* Ensures proper follow-through in delivery and documentation of nursing programs with all nursing staff.
* Work closely with the regional team, and the Director of Nursing in each care community assigned.
* Frequent review of medical records and assistance in proper completion of HCF nursing forms.
* Monitor nursing care plans, MDS’s, restorative plans, nursing staffing, case mix, and other nursing programs in each care community assigned.
* Participate in care communities Quality Assurance and Improvement Program.
* Ability to utilize electronic medical records and reports as well as ensuring proper utilization of system.
* Work with administration and all other departments to develop and implement creative ideas to market the philosophy of the nursing department.
* Work with licensed therapists and staff development to orient and educate new employees; reinforce and provide continuing education to all employees for responsibilities, techniques, and practices of restorative nursing care and documentation.
* Make rounds on all units to monitor the nursing care provided, the appearance of residents, and the cleanliness of each care community upon all visits.
* Communicate with the Regional team and Corporate Director of Clinical Services frequently to ensure visits are streamlined.
* Assist with monitoring all necessary meetings such as weekly case mix, QAPI process, and weekly care plan meetings as needed.
* Available for consultation and/or on-site visit during federal and state surveys as needed.
* Working knowledge of federal and state regulations for long term care as well as Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
* Financial review of nursing department and assist DON’s with nursing budget and staffing requirements.
* Assist in orientation of Directors of Nursing and other key nursing administration personnel.
* Assist in keeping Administrative Manual, QAPI manual, Infection Control and TB Manual, Nursing Procedure Manual, and other manuals current.
* Assumes responsibility for maintaining his/her professional competence.
* This position will require some overnight stays covering for any vacant DON positions in the region and will assist the DON with support at the building level of other positions open as directed by the Corporate Director of Clinical Services
* All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State Board of Nursing. CPR certification recommended. Current, unrestricted driver’s license required.
