This position leads the execution of mid-sized to large-scale energy retrofit construction projects in the Southern California and Central Valley regions. As the first senior hire in Bakersfield, you will oversee a multi-phase solar and storage portfolio while serving as the foundational leader for a growing local team.

What you’ll do
- Full Lifecycle Ownership: Drive projects from design-build input and bid coordination through implementation and final commissioning.
- MEP Oversight: Manage complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, ensuring all work meets rigorous QA/QC standards.
- Schedule & Budget: Own the project controls, maintaining detailed three-week schedules and monthly budget forecasting to ensure on-time delivery.
- Partner Management: Lead and coordinate subcontractors and vendors, serving as the primary liaison between field teams and clients.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior project staff as the local office scales.
What you bring
- Experience: 5–10 years of commercial construction leadership, specifically within MEP or ESCO environments.
- Technical Chops: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, energy efficiency retrofits, and solar storage integration.
- Project Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of scheduling software, submittal processes, and contract administration.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
- Local Presence & Travel: Based in Bakersfield preferred; however, candidates from the Central Valley or Los Angeles are encouraged to apply, provided they can travel to Bakersfield approximately 2x per week. 📍
