A fast‑growing energy technology company is seeking a Piping Design Engineer with deep expertise in SolidWorks piping and routing to support the mechanical design, layout, and integration of complex fluid‑handling systems for large‑scale energy infrastructure. This role is central to ensuring accuracy, constructability, and seamless integration across multidisciplinary mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D piping models and routing layouts in SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with design standards, space constraints, and system performance requirements
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, chemical, and process engineering teams to optimize fluid flow paths, minimize pressure drop, and ensure proper material and component selection
- Produce and maintain P&IDs, isometrics, BOMs, fabrication drawings, and spool sheets, ensuring alignment between 2D and 3D deliverables
- Apply industry best practices for P&ID development in AutoCAD, including consistent tagging of piping, valves, equipment, and instrumentation
- Support on‑site installation, prototype builds, and facility construction, providing field coordination, redlines, and design adjustments as needed
- Ensure piping designs meet relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.)
- Work with suppliers and fabricators to validate component compatibility, manufacturability, and installation feasibility
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in piping design, ideally within energy, chemical processing, industrial systems, or related heavy‑equipment sectors
- Expert‑level proficiency in SolidWorks piping and routing modules, including configuration of libraries, design tables, and routing automation
- Strong understanding of piping materials, fittings, supports, valves, and instrumentation
- Experience producing fabrication‑ready drawings and coordinating with shop and field teams
- Familiarity with flow battery systems, chemical process equipment, or fluid‑handling systems is a strong plus
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for P&IDs and 2D documentation
- Ability to interpret process diagrams, mechanical schematics, and vendor documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Salary : $125,000 - $170,000
