Responsibilities of the Microbiology Supervisor include:
- Leads and supervises the Microbiology Department, overseeing staff performance, coaching, and resource allocation to ensure operational, technical, and administrative efficiency.
- Ensures accurate, timely testing and reporting, upholding internal and external audit standards while reviewing and validating results before client release.
- Drives process improvement initiatives, focusing on accuracy, productivity, turnaround time, and maintaining appropriate equipment and technical resources.
- Acts as a scientific consultant to clients, effectively communicating test results, recommendations, and regulatory interpretations (FDA, USDA) to support client needs.
- Executes QA/QC programs and ISO requirements, maintaining calibration, validation, equipment maintenance, employee training, and quality management records
- Expertise in microbiological methods including MLG, BAM, AOAC, USP, ELAP, CMMEF, and ISO 17025, with a strong background in food testing and developing/validating testing methods.
- Experience creating shelf-life and control/monitoring programs in high-volume production environments.
- Strong quantitative, organizational, and problem-solving skills with critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and Labware LIMS.
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or relevant science.
- Salary Range: $65-$75k **Depending on experience**
