Material Planner

Piper Companies is seeking a Material Planner to join a leading pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare manufacturing organization in Westbury, NY. The Material Planner will support packaging operations by ensuring critical packaging materials are available to meet manufacturing demand while managing inventory, supplier performance, and packaging transitions in a regulated environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional looking to gain exposure to complex packaging operations, planning systems, and FDA-regulated manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities of the Material Planner:

• Plan and manage packaging components including cartons, inserts, films, foils, master shippers, and related materials.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support manufacturing operations while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Perform demand forecasting, material planning, and supplier coordination to ensure uninterrupted supply.
• Monitor lead times, minimum order quantities, and supplier performance to support operational efficiency.
• Manage packaging revisions, engineering change controls, and packaging transitions including phase-in and phase-out activities.
• Utilize planning systems such as Kinaxis, Oracle, and other ERP/MRP tools to analyze requirements and execute planning strategies.
  
  

Qualifications of the Material Planner:

• 2 years of experience in material planning, supply planning, production planning, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using ERP/MRP planning systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, Kinaxis, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, demand forecasting, and supplier management principles.
• Experience supporting regulated manufacturing environments preferred, including pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, food, or beverage manufacturing.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, engineering changes, labeling updates, and product lifecycle transitions is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  
  

Compensation for the Material Planner includes:

• Salary range: $70,000 - $74,000 annually (depending on experience)
