DTC Planner/Assortment Planner

POSITION SUMMARY

The DTC Planner / Assortment Planner is responsible for developing and executing assortment strategies across direct-to-consumer channels to maximize sales performance and inventory productivity. This role sits at the intersection of merchandising and planning — translating consumer demand signals and financial targets into clear, actionable buy and assortment decisions across online, DTC, and owned retail channels.

The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical foundation, a passion for product, and the ability to synthesize large, complex data sets into insights that drive the business forward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and own seasonal DTC assortment plans aligned with financial targets, brand strategy, and consumer demand signals
• Build and manage channel-level recap actuals vs. plan weekly
• Conduct pre-season hindsight and post-season analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for future buys
• Partner with Merchandise Planning, Buying, and Marketing teams to ensure assortment depth and breadth supports sales projections
• Lead in-season performance tracking — including sell-through, weeks of supply, gross margin, and inventory turn — and deliver actionable recommendations
• Leverage large data sets to identify demand trends, forecast inventory needs, and optimize assortment positioning across channels
• Develop and maintain size and color selling analyses to inform future assortment and pack decisions
• Support product launch planning and promotional activity in collaboration with marketing and digital teams
• Build and manage end-of-season markdown and clearance strategies to minimize excess inventory
• Create and present regular business performance reporting and seasonal recaps to leadership
• Continuously improve planning processes, tools, and reporting infrastructure

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of experience in DTC planning, merchandise planning, or assortment planning within apparel, fashion, or consumer goods
• Demonstrated experience managing OTB and assortment plans across multiple channels or categories
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel — including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling
• Experience working with enterprise planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, SAP, Oracle Retail, or similar)
• Strong analytical skills with proven ability to translate data insights into clear business recommendations
• Experience working cross-functionally with buying, merchandising, marketing, and supply chain teams
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Merchandising, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hands-on experience working with large, complex data sets; proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Python strongly preferred
• Background spanning both wholesale and DTC planning environments
• Familiarity with licensed or branded apparel, including seasonal and sport-driven product cycles
• Experience with statistical demand forecasting models and inventory optimization tools
• Strong understanding of size curve analysis, color productivity, and style-level margin optimization
• Experience supporting Amazon or marketplace channel planning in addition to owned DTC
