Director of Software Development

Piper Companies is looking for a highly technical
Director of Software Development
to join a leading
healthcare
organization in the
Greater Baltimore area
. This
fulltime
,
hybrid
role reports directly to the CTO.

This Director will lead software engineering, managing both modern .NET applications and PowerBuilder legacy systems while driving a strategic modernization roadmap.

Responsibilities of the Director of Software Development Include:

• Provide vision and leadership for development teams; align initiatives with business goals.
• Oversee .NET and PowerBuilder projects, balancing legacy support with digital transformation.
• Build and mentor high-performing teams; foster innovation and accountability.
• Manage project delivery, KPIs, and stakeholder communication.
• Guide architecture, enforce coding standards, and lead modernization efforts.
• Collaborate across QA, DevOps, Security, and business units.

Qualifications of the Director of Software Development Include:

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field (Master's preferred).
• 10 years in software development, 5 in leadership.
• Expertise in .NET (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core) and working knowledge of PowerBuilder.
• Experience with SDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, and modernization projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Preferred: Azure/AWS experience, SaaS/HRTech background, PMP/CSM certifications.

Compensation of the Director of Software Development Includes:

• Salary Range: $180, $220,000.00 per year, based on experience and certifications
• 15% annual bonus eligibility
