Pioneer Valley Regional School seeks a Dean of Students.
We are looking for a team player who will be a compassionate leader, committed to equity and excellence in education, skilled in developing a nurturing yet disciplined school culture, and adept at managing student needs effectively.
The Dean of Students is a school-based administrator responsible for supporting a safe, consistent, and positive learning environment for all students. The Dean oversees day-to-day student discipline, coordinates communication related to student behavior, and works closely with faculty and the Principal to ensure a shared understanding of expectations for student conduct. The Dean also leads school-wide advisory programming and develops opportunities for student leadership.
The Dean of Students operates under the direct supervision of the PVRS Principal, indirectly under the Superintendent, and in compliance with the policies of the School Committee and State Laws.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Principal to align discipline practices, respond to complex situations, and maintain consistency in school-wide expectations
- Ensure compliance with all laws related to student disciplinary records and safeguards
- Oversee day-to-day student discipline in a manner that is consistent, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the PVRS student handbook
- Communicate discipline decisions and follow-through clearly, including when behaviors are to be addressed within the classroom
- Maintain accurate records of student incidents and communication
- Work with faculty to establish and maintain a shared understanding of classroom-managed versus office-managed behaviors
- Support teachers through collaboration and professional conversations to ensure consistent, equitable responses to classroom-level behavior
- Lead the development and implementation of the school's advisory program
- Develop and oversee a peer leadership program that promotes student voice, responsibility, and school engagement
- Collaborate with counseling and support staff to develop and monitor interventions for students
- Use behavior and attendance data to identify trends and inform proactive supports
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Salary : $95,000 - $105,000
