Food Services Assistant

Food Services Assistant Schedule: •Academic year 198 working days (180 days with students in school, 10 days before the start of school, the equivalent of 3 staff professional days (PD) during the school year and 5 days after the last day of school). •9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on school days and staff PD days. When the staff PD day is a half day in the afternoon, the hours would be 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM. •Benefits are prorated based on FTE. This position is .5 FTE with potential for full-time FTE. Duties: •Assists Food Services Coordinator in implementing the food service operation for the school that includes meal preparation, distribution to students and clean up. •Adheres to all rules and regulations regarding ServSafe regulations and the food/nutrition standards from federal and guidelines. •Adheres to rules and regulations for operating in a sanitary and safe environment. •Maintains ServSafe certification and participates in any required training requested by the school. •Assists in ordering food items and supplies, as needed, in a cost effective manner and in conformity with the federal and state procurement laws and local procurement policies/procedures. •Assists in maintaining and logging inventories of food, supplies, and equipment. •Works as a team with the Food Services Coordinator and other staff to ensure a quality food service program. •Assists in receiving all food and food supplies, and distributing such food, supplies, and prepared meals between school sites. •Assists in developing any educational opportunities for students, staff, and the community, to include nutrition/health lessons, garden/farm connections, and related groups. •When necessary, may participate in school based committees such as the Wellness Committee. •Other duties, as assigned for example, helping in other school operations, subbing and assisting with student activities such as school community events especially involving ones involving food.
