Position Summary
The Accountant (CPA) is responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for Pioneer Realty Capital and its related entities, including operating companies, investment funds, and real estate assets.
This role ensures accurate books, GAAP compliance, timely reporting, and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is a hands-on CPA who thrives in a fast-paced in-person environment and understands the accounting needs of a growing real estate and finance organization.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Reporting
- Perform full-cycle accounting including journal entries, accruals, and month-end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, GL accounts, and intercompany balances.
- Create and maintain supporting schedules for all major accounts.
Real Estate & Property Accounting
- Record rental income, concessions, adjustments, and occupancy-driven activity.
- Review AP, AR, and tenant ledgers to ensure accuracy and proper coding.
- Assist with capital expenditure tracking, loan compliance, and reserve schedules.
- Coordinate closely with property staff to ensure proper invoice categorization and financial documentation.
Compliance, Audit & Tax Support
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and lender/investor requirements.
- Prepare documentation for audits, reviews, and tax filings.
- Maintain and improve internal control procedures.
- Support external CPAs and tax preparers with necessary reports.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Assist with annual budgets and periodic reforecasting.
- Prepare variance analysis and present findings to management.
- Help with cash flow projections, scenario analysis, and financial planning.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Standardize chart of accounts, coding practices, and documentation across entities.
- Recommend changes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with onboarding and optimization of accounting/property management software.
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license — MANDATORY
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred)
- 3–5 years of accounting experience (public accounting or real estate strongly preferred)
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
- Experience with accounting and/or property management software (QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with non-accounting teams
- Must work on-site daily at the Arlington office
Preferred Qualifications
- Real estate, student housing, or multifamily accounting experience
- Experience with fund accounting, investor reporting, or distribution calculations
- Audit or tax prep exposure
