Assistant Building Engineer – WNY
Job Summary:
Responsible for regularly inspecting tenant suites and common areas (interior and exterior) of assigned commercial properties and providing support to Building Engineers and Property Management staff. Receives primary supervision and direction from Sr. Building Engineer and general supervision and direction from the Sr. Property Manager. Receives additional technical support from other Building Engineers as well as management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect life-safety programs and building systems including performing routine inspections of identified equipment via Inspection Reports; maintain logs of associated work through work order system software or as otherwise directed.
- Perform interior and exterior Condition Reports and log same through the work order system software or as otherwise directed.
- Ensure tenant service requests are forwarded promptly to the appropriate staff member and perform the routine inspections of the physical plant and mechanical and electrical systems as outlined on Inspection Reports.
- Daily performance of general maintenance and repair items, including obtaining necessary materials and supplies to complete tasks such as:
- Clearing faucet strainers/drains/toilets/roof drains, changing water filters, changing lamps, testing emergency lighting systems, replacing ceiling tiles, performing locksmith tasks, pressure wash exterior areas, broom, vacuum, and refuse removal.
- Respond to emergencies and other after-hour building related activity as required.
- Work independently while also collaborating effectively with property management and engineering teams.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and building systems preferred.
Education/Experience:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 5 years of Building Maintenance experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Use hand tools.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat, crawl, reach, push and pull.
Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
