Job Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for supporting the day-to-day bookkeeping and banking operations of the organization. This position performs general ledger entries and account reconciliations, assists with cash and bank-related activities, and provides customer support for debit cards, online banking, and mobile deposit services. The Bookkeeper also assists with audit requests and other operational functions as assigned.
This is an entry-level position that requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, confidentiality, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and post general ledger entries accurately and timely.
- Reconcile general ledger and other assigned accounts.
- Reconcile cash and due-from-bank accounts.
- Reconcile applications and related records to the general ledger.
- Research and resolve discrepancies and report issues as appropriate.
- Assist with audit preparation by providing records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Order debit cards and assist customers with debit card questions, issues, and services.
- Provide customer assistance and troubleshooting for online banking.
- Assist customers with mobile deposit services and related questions.
- Provide support for the organization's overdraft programs in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service by phone, email, and in person.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to assigned responsibilities.
- Follow established accounting, security, compliance, and internal control procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer and organizational financial information.
- Learn and utilize various accounting, banking, debit card, online banking, and mobile deposit systems.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to resolve customer and operational issues.
- Assist with other bookkeeping and operational duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior bookkeeping or banking experience required.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Ability to organize work, follow established procedures, and meet deadlines.
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
