Position Summary

Pinpoint is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on, and motivated individual to join our signage production team as a CNC Router Operator. This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of our shop, focusing on operating and maintaining production equipment, assembling fabricated assets, packaging projects for shipment or installation, and ensuring a clean, organized workspace. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong technical skills, and takes pride in executing precision-driven tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot our Multicam CNC router, Boss laser, and associated CNC / fabrication equipment
  • Program, prepare, and adjust precise cut files and machine-ready production files using CNC software
  • Set up machines, fixtures, tooling, bits, machine settings, and material hold-down methods to run jobs safely and accurately
  • Perform packaging and prep work for shipping and installations, ensuring CNC-produced components and related project materials are complete, protected, ready, and labeled correctly
  • Inspect CNC-cut and fabricated components for accuracy, quality, edge finish, and overall compliance with company standards, drawings, and project specifications
  • Work with a variety of substrates, including acrylic, PVC, ACM, foam, wood, and other sheet goods used in signage, displays, and event fabrication
  • Select appropriate tooling, bits, machine settings, and materials based on project specifications and production requirements
  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, and finishing tasks as needed, including sanding, deburring, edge finishing, cleanup, light assembly, and preparation of parts for final production, packing, or installation
  • Follow production schedules, prioritize assigned work, and communicate machine issues, material concerns, or schedule risks early so projects stay on track
  • Assist with material handling, including receiving, moving, and organizing incoming substrates, sheet goods, and production materials
  • Take ownership of finished CNC output, including part quality, edge condition, labeling, and readiness for downstream fabrication, assembly, finishing, or installation
  • Continue learning new production techniques, tooling, materials, and CNC / laser processes that improve quality, speed, and shop efficiency

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on CNC router experience in a signage, fabrication, or production environment
  • Strong proficiency in creating and editing cut files, nesting, and toolpath generation
  • Familiarity with large-format materials and fabrication techniques used in signage and event structures
  • Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and light equipment maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and build specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and quality control standards
  • Comfortable lifting up to 60 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical certification preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The requirements outlined below are necessary to perform the essential duties of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Envvironment

  • Production shop, fabrication, and warehouse environments with varying indoor conditions depending on project scope and operational demands
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels from CNC routers, compressors, and other production machinery
  • Work performed in environments with dust, debris, and residue from cutting materials such as wood, plastics, composites, and metals
  • Regular exposure to fabrication-related materials including adhesives, cleaning agents, lubricants, and finishing compounds
  • Work conducted around moving machinery, automated equipment, forklifts, and material handling systems
  • May involve interaction with multiple departments in a fast-paced, production-driven environment with shifting priorities and deadlines

Physical Demands

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 60 lbs. independently; assist with heavier or oversized materials using team lifting techniques or mechanical aids (e.g., dollies, carts, forklifts)
  • Prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching (including overhead), and twisting during material handling and machine setup
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements associated with machine operation, loading/unloading materials, and finishing tasks
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination to safely operate CNC equipment, handle materials, and perform precision work
  • Ability to load and unload raw materials onto CNC router beds and remove finished parts safely and efficiently
  • Sensory & Communication Requirements

Adequate vision, with or without correction, to:

  • Monitor CNC router operation and material cuts in real time
  • Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and defects
  • Read measurements, shop drawings, CAD outputs, and machine interfaces

Adequate hearing, with or without correction, to:

  • Recognize verbal instructions and team communication
  • Detect abnormal machine sounds, alarms, or operational issues
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment and safety signals in an active production environment

Equipment & Vehicles

  • Operation and interaction with CNC routers (e.g., Multicam or similar), including control systems and associated software interfaces
  • Use of fabrication equipment including saws, sanders, drills, routers, and finishing tools
  • Use of material handling equipment such as carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts (if trained and certified)
  • Handling of large-format materials including wood sheets, plastics, composites, and signage substrates
  • Use of measurement tools and calibration devices for precision cutting and quality control
  • May operate or work around company vehicles used for material transport within or between facilities

Safety & Additional Requirements

  • Strict adherence to OSHA safety standards and company safety policies required at all times
  • Must maintain constant situational awareness in environments with moving machinery, cutting tools, and active production workflows
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards including moving equipment, sharp edges, pinch points, and airborne debris
  • Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include:
  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • Gloves
  • Steel-toe footwear
  • Respiratory protection (as required based on materials and tasks)
  • Must follow lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding protocols, and safe operating practices for CNC equipment
  • May require working extended hours, overtime, or adjusted schedules to meet production deadlines
  • Expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace to support safety, efficiency, and workflow continuity
