Patient Care Specialist III – Residential
Full‑Time | Shift: M-F  7pm - 7am w/ rotating Weekends

As a Patient Care Specialist III – Residential (PCS III) at our Martinsville, Indiana location, you will serve as a frontline leader within our residential treatment program. This role provides continuous patient care, monitoring, interaction, and role modeling in a structured, therapeutic addiction recovery environment. PCS III teammates also take on leadership responsibilities by mentoring PCS I and PCS II teammates, providing real‑time coaching, and collaborating with leadership to ensure care delivery aligns with clinical best practices, regulatory standards, and organizational expectations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance use treatment setting
  • Intermediate knowledge of addiction and the recovery process
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and support teammates
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment
  • CPR and MANDT certification (training provided and maintained as required)
  • Ability to travel locally up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a behavioral science discipline from an accredited college or university
  • State‑recognized Peer Support Certification or addiction training certification
  • Advanced knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery principles
  • Advanced technology skills, including Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Support patient engagement through positive role modeling, motivational interviewing, and reinforcement of program expectations
  • Promote a trauma‑informed, therapeutic environment through calm leadership, safety rounds, and consistent rule enforcement
  • Support AMA prevention and early intervention by monitoring risk indicators and communicating concerns to the treatment team
  • Assist with admissions by monitoring patient safety, providing orientation, and completing required documentation
  • Facilitate and monitor patient phone calls in accordance with confidentiality standards and EHR documentation requirements
  • Follow all safety, medical, and infection control protocols, including searches, drug screen observations, and heat treatments
  • Conduct patient and belongings searches for contraband and manage valuables according to policy
  • Maintain readiness for medical and behavioral emergencies, including CPR, MANDT, and Narcan administration
  • Ensure timely and accurate EHR documentation, including shift reports, incident reports, and patient observations
  • Facilitate or support structured activities and recovery support groups
  • Provide safe and compliant patient transportation and maintain accurate mileage records
  • Assist with store runs and community activities following established safety guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment through facility and room inspections and universal precautions
  • Perform duties in alignment with CARF standards to support accreditation readiness
  • Provide real‑time mentorship and coaching to PCS I and PCS II teammates
  • Support onboarding and training of new teammates
  • Model professionalism, accountability, and best practices in patient care and documentation
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful team culture
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve workflows and patient experience
  • Assist with scheduling support, shift coverage, audits, and special projects as needed
  • Maintain all required certifications and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
