Job Duties (Essential)
- Oversees Wellness Services and the programming component of the Lifestyles & Wellness department which includes, but is not limited to, outings, in-house programs, events, and creative expression programming.
- Provides semi-annual strategic planning and leads monthly operational programming in Independent Living. Supports Neighborhood and Household Leaders in their learning & development around wellness programs, such as the Pathways to Wellness.
- Monitors the monthly development of the Independent Living programming calendar utilizing in-house and community resources in conjunction with the Activities Committee and individual preferences to meet the needs and interests of all residents.
- Oversees Ancillary Services which includes front desk concierge, event set-up, and transportation.
- Assists residents in making smooth and orderly transitions to their new home and between levels of service.
- Serves as a member of the Resident Care Committee which ensures all residents can live in the level that is best suited for the individual.
- Ensures basic medical services are available to the independent living residents, giving them the opportunity to age in place as much as possible.
- Oversees the volunteer program within the community to bring additional services to our residents, as well as recruiting residents to volunteer across all levels of service.
- Establishes and maintains connections with community agencies, sub-contractors, and service providers to assure required resources for residents.
- Establishes resident/team member communication networks and procedures in coordination with other team members.
- Collaborates with the Associate Executive Director in passing important information to the Resident Council from the Lifestyles & Wellness Department.
- Attends leadership team meetings and other assigned committee meetings.
- Serves as contract monitor for the Beauty Shop, Barbershop, Manicurist, and Clothing Alterations, if applicable; maintains licensure and contract updates.
- Prepares departmental budget and fiscal reports. Establishes systems for inventory controls and department expenses and maintains fiscal control.
- Ensures the delivery of complete program of spiritual care to residents, their loved ones, and team members of all faith traditions.
- Supports an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care.
- Supervise and facilitates the work of those delivering spiritual care, including interns.
- Oversees visitation of residents in all levels of living and in hospitals with a priority on crisis situations.
- Facilitates the development and implementation of spiritual care services, activities, and events.
- Coordinate church, clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the religious community.
- Participates in programs and administrative activities of the community.
- Develops and maintains proper administration procedures for Pastoral Services in accordance with community policies.
- Oversees in-house publications relating to spiritual care for the community.
- Participates in trade association of choice to establish outside networking relationships and continued education sessions for current trends and career growth.
- Attends all mandatory in-services and others as appropriate.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of program planning and coordination.
- Knowledge of gerontology and health care issues affecting older adults.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to drive wellness and lifestyle needs, identify issues, and manage the communication and direction throughout the process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with residents and family members as well as community team members.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation/human services or related field required.
- 5 years recreation experience preferred.
- May include frequent lifting (up to 50lbs).
- Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
- Ability to work inside and outside to effectively make rounds daily throughout the facility and to respond to problems and emergencies.
- Ability to assist in transporting Residents.
