Job Summary:
The Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all inspection, certification, airworthiness, and quality control functions related to aircraft maintenance and repair activities. This role ensures compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to maintain the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of the fleet. The Compliance Manager provides direct supervision to inspection personnel, maintains all required documentation, and plays a pivotal role in the implementation and oversight of the company's quality assurance and training programs.
Duties:
Inspection & Airworthiness Oversight
- Perform and supervise inspections on aircraft, components, and maintenance work to ensure airworthiness and compliance.
- Coordinate inspections per FAR 145, Part 43, Part 91, Part 121, and Part 135 requirements.
- Approve aircraft for return to service; may include flight testing as required.
- Monitor and implement FAA Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and Quality Alert Bulletins (QABs).
- Conduct audits and inspections of aircraft, logs, and maintenance programs.
- Review documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities conform to applicable CFRs, GMMs, and company-issued Operations Specifications.
- Work with FAA FSDO and other regulatory authorities on Quality Assurance matters.
- Participate in SMS, CASS, and other internal compliance programs.
Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise and train inspection personnel; coordinate daily inspection activities and shift turnover.
- Maintain and update the Required Inspection Item Program.
- Develop and maintain company manuals and training programs.
- Lead departmental goal-setting, appraisals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality & Process Management
- Implement quality procedures and ensure compliance with Repair Station policies.
- Establish, track, and enforce inspection procedures, including tech data, FARs, and internal specifications.
- Conduct internal audits and maintain calibration of inspection tools and equipment.
- Manage document control, including FAA forms (337, 8130-3, 8110) and other technical paperwork.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Science, Quality Systems, or related field preferred.
- A&P License required. Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
- Minimum 7 years aircraft/component inspection experience, including 5 years on mid- or large-size aircraft.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a regulated maintenance environment.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations (Part 43, 91, 121, 135, 145), inspection protocols, and QA procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of aircraft systems, engines, structures, and maintenance documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to coordinate and manage inspections across shifts and departments.
- Experience with inspection forms, log entries, defect tracking, and work authorization approvals.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance tracking software.
- Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language fluently.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work on-site full-time and travel as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Must qualify for airport ramp access and security clearance where applicable.
