Position Title: PSS/PCA - Caregiver
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: Various locations across Maine
Reports To: Care Coordinator / Supervisor
Position Summary
The PSS/PCA Caregiver provides non-medical, hands-on assistance to individuals in their homes, helping them maintain independence and dignity. This role is vital to ensuring that clients receive high-quality, compassionate care in alignment with Pineview Care’s mission and MaineCare program standards.
You will support clients with daily living activities, personal care, companionship, and essential household tasks — while forming meaningful connections that truly impact their lives.
Primary Responsibilities: Personal Care & Daily Living Support
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Support clients with transfers, positioning, and safe ambulation, ensuring comfort and injury prevention.
- Provide meal preparation and feeding assistance, following dietary needs or restrictions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dishes, and tidying.
Companionship & Emotional Support
- Engage clients in conversation, activities, and community involvement to reduce isolation.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional well-being and social connection.
- Provide companionship during daily routines and appointments.
Health & Safety
- Observe and document any changes in client condition, mood, or behavior.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding concerns or incidents.
- Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate time logs and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Pineview Care policies, state regulations, and privacy standards (HIPAA).
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Attend scheduled training sessions, meetings, and continuing education opportunities.
- Represent Pineview Care with professionalism, respect, and integrity in all client interactions.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Credentials
- Must hold a valid PSS certification or PCA training recognized by the State of Maine (or be willing to obtain training through Pineview Care).
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
Experience
- Previous caregiving experience (paid or unpaid) in homecare, assisted living, or personal care settings preferred.
- Experience supporting seniors, individuals with disabilities, or chronic health conditions is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively with staff and clients.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to client homes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility or transfers as needed.
