Position Information
Position Title: PSS / PCA Caregiver
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: Multiple locations across Maine (local assignments within driving radius)
Reports To: Care Coordinator / Supervisor
Position Summary
The PSS / PCA Caregiver provides non-medical, hands-on support to individuals in their homes, helping them maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. This role plays a critical part in delivering compassionate care in accordance with Pineview Care’s standards and MaineCare program requirements.
Caregivers assist with daily living activities, personal care, companionship, and essential household tasks while building meaningful, supportive relationships with clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care & Daily Living Support
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Support safe transfers, positioning, and ambulation
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding according to dietary needs
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dishes, and general tidying to maintain a safe home environment
Companionship & Emotional Support
- Provide companionship and meaningful engagement to reduce isolation
- Encourage participation in daily routines and community activities
- Build trusting, respectful relationships that promote emotional well-being
Health, Safety & Documentation
- Observe and report changes in client condition, behavior, or mood
- Follow individualized care plans and agency policies
- Accurately complete timekeeping, documentation, and service logs
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and state regulations
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and care team members
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and continuing education
- Represent Pineview Care with professionalism, respect, and integrity
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Credentials
- Valid PSS certification or PCA training recognized by the State of Maine (or willingness to complete training through Pineview Care)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Experience
- Prior caregiving experience (paid or unpaid) preferred
- Experience supporting seniors, individuals with disabilities, or chronic conditions is a plus
Skills & Abilities
- Compassionate, dependable, and patient

- Ability to follow care plans and maintain confidentiality
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client homes
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility or transfers
Compensation & Benefits
