RN Unit Manager
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Summary
The RN Unit Manager is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents on an assigned unit. This role ensures that care is delivered in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and accepted standards of nursing practice. The RN Unit Manager provides leadership to nursing staff, promotes quality resident outcomes, and supports a safe, respectful, and compliant care environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing services on the assigned unit.
Supervise and support licensed nurses (LPNs/RNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
Ensure resident care plans are developed, implemented, updated, and followed appropriately.
Monitor residents’ conditions and ensure timely assessment, documentation, and communication of changes in condition.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including survey readiness.
Participate in care conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, and family communications as needed.
Review incident reports, follow up on concerns, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Ensure proper medication administration and treatment procedures are followed.
Assist with staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, and progressive discipline.
Promote infection control practices and safety standards within the unit.
Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and resident-centered care.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Qualifications
Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of CMS regulations, state survey process, and long-term care standards.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required in a healthcare environment.
Ability to lift or assist in lifting residents in accordance with facility policy.
Must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Skilled nursing/long-term care facility
May involve exposure to infectious diseases, medical equipment, and residents with varying physical and cognitive conditions
