At the Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA), our mission is to provide quality, affordable housing and improve the lives of residents. We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Housing Advisor who is ready to help individuals and families access and maintain safe, stable housing.
In this role, you will guide Housing Choice Voucher participants through eligibility, recertification, leasing, and program requirements. You will serve as an important connection between participants, property owners, community resources, and PCHA—ensuring each interaction is handled accurately, respectfully, and with a commitment to excellent public service.
How You Will Support Our Mission
As a Housing Advisor, you will:
- Manage annual recertifications and interim changes for a caseload of more than 300 active participants.
- Interview participants and verify household composition, income, assets, deductions, and supporting documentation.
- Determine continued program eligibility and assist with the termination process when required.
- Prepare leases, briefing materials, participant correspondence, and landlord communications.
- Conduct briefings for new participants and families moving to a new unit.
- Respond professionally to participant and property-owner questions, concerns, and complaints.
- Complete portability lease-ups and support accurate housing assistance payments.
- Prepare required weekly and monthly reports.
- Assist with fraud investigations, repayment calculations, and special assignments.
- Connect participants with community resources that may support their housing stability and overall well-being.

Qualifications:What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of satisfactory work experience involving direct interaction with the public.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Confidence working with computers, office technology, and agency software.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused while managing changing priorities and deadlines.
- Florida Class E driver’s license and the ability to meet PCHA’s insurance requirements.
