SUMMARY:
Responsible for the details related to the successful operation of the cheerleading program in accordance with local, PIAA and national standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Inform each student on school policy, activity eligibility, and team rules.
Establish tryouts and select squads in accordance with a master plan of selection.
Instruct participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in cheerleading.
Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
Inform each student on school policy, activity eligibility, and team rules.
Complete an accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms and supplies used.
Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area where cheerleaders practice or perform.
Establish physical conditioning program to prevent injuries.
Attend all the events in season in which students are performing and representing the school or provide a qualified substitute.
Coordinate transportation and supervision for away events.
Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
Maintain student discipline in accordance with the student Code of Conduct.
Maintain two-way communications with parents of participants as needed.
Prepare and submit end-of-year summary to the athletic director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises cheerleaders and coordinates program volunteer efforts.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience preferred in physical education, cheerleading/dance, first-aid, and CPR/sports medicine. Current criminal record and child abuse clearances required.

The employee must respect students and families rights to privacy and agree not to publicly share in a negative manner details of a student’s academic or athletic abilities or performance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, their parents or employees of the district. Ability to communicate in a positive way with members of the media.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to guide appropriate record keeping of student accounts related to program.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer skills in word processing and database are helpful.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense, understanding and conflict resolution skills
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally the employee will sit and or run. Moderate lifting of equipment or athletic gear weighing between 10-30 pounds may be necessary.
The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception and occasionally being able to see objects/persons at a distance. While performing the duties of the job the employee frequently is required to hear conversation and a quiet as well as a noisy environment and be able to tell where a sound is coming from. The employee must be able to communicate to the team in order to give directions.
