Youth Programs Coordinator
Recreational Climbing Programs (Youth Programs)
The Rock Club’s Youth Programs Coordinator (YPC) plays a key role in the success of our recreational youth programming, which includes afterschool programs, summer camps, and holiday mini-camps. This position works closely with the Youth Programs Director (YPD) to manage week-to-week operations, plan lessons, and schedule staff. You are also the “on the ground” manager for our programs, teaching multiple days a week, and acting as a role model for the youth instructor team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with YPD to train and manage staff and foster create a positive and enthusiastic team culture
- Head weekly recreational classes and directly supervise other instructors
- Oversee weekly lesson plans and curriculum
- Schedule instructors for camps and other youth programs
- Handle customer issues and questions related to our youth programs in an effective and timely manner
- Assist with larger gym wide events
- General customer service, setting, or maintenance work as needed and able

- Natural drive to build and grow successful programs to generate revenue

- Highly organized and able to manage multiple programs
- Comfortable addressing challenging situations with professionalism
Qualifications
- Has a passion for rock climbing and working with children of all ages
- 1 – 2 years minimum experience coaching youth climbers. Additional supervisory/management experience a plus
- Is endlessly enthusiastic, positive, and patient with our youth recreational participants, and is comfortable working with difficult children (and their parents!)
- Possesses strong leadership qualities. Ability to communicate with and motivate others
- Well organized and able to manage programming materials
- Availability to work a minimum of 4 days of classes each week (approx. 16 hours) plus additional administrative work. Additional full-time hours available for qualified applicants
- Basic Windows office computer skills - ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Additional Information
- Position can be filled either part-time or full-time. Part-Time is 20-30 hours each week. Full-time is 30 hours. Full-time may include additional responsibilities around the gym.
- Starting salary range: $23 per hour. Additional benefits include retail store discounts, free membership, plus 401K and healthcare plans for full-time employees.
