Position Details
Status: PRN, as needed
Shift: Day shift, hours are typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Position Purpose: Functions as a Registered Nurse in the Oncology Department. Responsibilities include (but not limited to): chemotherapy administration, Immunotherapy administration, blood product administration, intravenous catheter care, Intravenous/Intramuscular/Subcutaneous medication administration, assisting physicians in the performance of medical procedures, venipunctures, patient and family education, emergency care of oncology patients, patient follow-up, scheduling of procedures, office duties such as insurance verification and precertification.
Qualifications:
- Education: Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Licensure: Current and Valid Registered Nurse licensure with the IDPR.
- Certification: BLS, ACLS, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate.
- Prior Experience: One (1) year nursing experience.
- Proficiencies: Intravenous and portacath access; Administering chemotherapy and other medications.
- Skills and Abilities: Head-to-toe assessments; patient medical record maintenance.
- Knowledge of: ICD-10 coding and principles; financial and reimbursement issues, Insurance verification and precertification.
- Knowledge of: Continuing education in the oncology field.
Position Duties:
- Ability to perform head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessment as per policy.
- Facilitates and monitors activities related to patient care and sets standards for accurate reporting and recording of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Organizes patient care and ensures continuity of care based on knowledge of patient needs.
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcome; modifies the plan of care based on the evaluation.
- Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness.
- Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate.
- Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
- Consults with other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient needs.
- Demonstrates ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Wage Rate Range : $ 30.00/HR - 41.00/hr, based on experience and specific experience
