Friday 9:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. (20 Saturdays per school year)
Salary Range: Starting Placement $16.00-$20.00/Per hour, DOE
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
The Attendance Clerk is responsible for maintaining and processing student attendance information in accordance with district, state and federal requirements relating to attendance processes including parent notifications; preparing and distributing attendance reports. Responsible for ensuring all student attendance is uploaded in accordance with Arizona Department of Education's requirements. The position requires a flexible work schedule, including evening and Saturdays based on student activities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Track daily student attendance, certify legitimacy of student excuses, prepare and communicate necessary attendance reports
- Responsible for the collection and input of daily attendance data to be entered into the Student Accountability Information System (SAIS)
- Ensures that attendance is taken promptly on a daily basis
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy of data, and compliance with all federal, state, and district policies
- Verifies student membership and attendance data to assure accuracy and compliance with Arizona Department of Education regulations and district policy
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained for students and families in accordance with applicable law and district policy
- Communicates with parents, students, staff, in person, by telephone, email or letter for the purpose of providing information on a variety of attendance issues and meeting district and state absence notification requirements
- Maintain a variety of attendance records, schedules, and files (paper and electronic) (e.g., contact and telephone logs, student attendance, school calendars, etc.) for the purpose of providing reliable information in compliance with district policies
- Receives telephone calls and written excuses regarding absences
- Verifies students' absences by contacting parents/legal guardians
- Prepares and submits, daily, and monthly reports as needed
- Works closely with teachers, counselors, registrars, and the other Attendance Clerk
- Communicates with parents, students, staff and member district personnel regarding enrollment and attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of related experience
- Bilingual - Spanish
- Proficient in the use of PowerSchool, or similar attendance software program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures
- Capability to organize and perform duties in a timely and efficient manner with attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint card or be able to obtain one
- Proof of MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
- Negative TB test (within the last year)
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and solve conflicts
- Maintain professional and friendly demeanor
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established district policies and procedures
- Knowledge of basic office equipment such as computers, multi-line phones, fax machines, and scanners.
