Essential Functions

Two (2) years of commercial, institutional, or industrial custodial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
Or
One year of experience with Pima County as a Custodian or closely related classification as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record. Failure to obtain or maintain the required license may result in termination. Certain positions may also require an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) regular Clearance Card at the time of appointment. Maintaining this certification is required as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain the appropriate DPS Clearance Card, if required, may result in termination.
Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. - Engages in cleaning of buildings, office facilities, and surrounding areas;
- Trains and instructs custodial workers in proper methods and procedures of custodial work and infection control techniques;
- Inspects completed work to ensure conformance to accepted standards;
- May supervise and participate in loading, unloading, and moving supplies, equipment, and furniture;
- Orders and maintains an inventory of various custodial equipment and supplies;
- Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports;
- Prepares cleaning and disinfectant solutions and ensures proper disposal;
- May perform more difficult maintenance tasks;
- May inspect equipment to determine needs for new parts, repairs, overhauls, and replacements;
- May distribute and collect keys and/or pagers;
- May be assigned to work in a jail or detention center.
