What are the responsibilities and job description for the Category Specialist - MRO & Automotive CapEx position at Pilkington?
Purpose:
This role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of procurement strategies, and for delivering a range of projects with both commercial and strategic impact. The focus will be on driving cost efficiencies and service improvements across the MRO and Automotive CapEx categories for all NSG Group businesses in North America. The position offers the opportunity to work in a truly global, cross functional environment.
There are four key elements for this role:
a) Drive Continuous Improvement:
Lead procurement initiatives to deliver value for money and efficiency across the MRO category, while also commercially delivering high impact Automotive CapEx projects defined by the Group for North America
b) Deliver Measurable Savings:
Achieve defined procurement savings targets and performance objectives for the category
c) Champion Sustainable Procurement:
Serve as a champion for sustainable procurement within your supply base, actively promoting best-in-class practices across all MRO & Auto CapEx goods and services in North America
d) Collaborate Globally:
Collaborate closely with key NSG stakeholders in North America, MRO Category Specialists across Europe, and the Global Category Manager in the UK to identify and prioritize strategic improvement opportunities that drive tangible value for the North American business
Essential Functions:
Execute global and regional category strategies across North America for MRO and Automotive CapEx spend areas
Act as the primary procurement point of contact for suppliers, and serve as a trusted advisor to local Buyers and Business Stakeholders within the MRO and Automotive CapEx categories
Support the Procurement Manager (Automotive CapEx) and the Global Category Manager by leading procurement activities for a range of Automotive CapEx projects in NA region, from small scale initiatives to major investments, serving as the principal Buyer for equipment needs where appropriate
Develop and manage a strong supplier network that consistently delivers value in quality, service, innovation, and cost
Support a collaborative and supportive working culture with colleagues across local operations and Global Teams
Engage in a wide range of procurement activities, from project/tender analysis to high value contract negotiations
Drive value for money across MRO and Automotive CapEx categories for all NSG Group operations throughout North America
Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
Other duties as assigned by manager
Scope/Dimensions:
The North America MRO category represents a €42M spend, accounting for 16% of the global MRO expenditure. This presents significant opportunities for driving category development and cost optimization. The role offers the chance to shape the strategy, take ownership, and drive meaningful improvements across the region.

Qualifications Required:
Proven track record of delivering cost reductions across similar spend categories, ideally within a manufacturing environment
Experience managing end to end procurement projects, from planning through to execution
A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to challenge the status quo, identify service and cost improvement opportunities, and generate ideas independently, with support from the Global Category Manager
Strong negotiation skills and a result driven approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and relationship building
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Fluency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally, as required, to ensure effective implementation of procurement strategies across the region
Qualifications Desired:
Extensive commercial and procurement expertise in MRO and CapEx, ideally gained within a large organization, with a strong ability to analyze, negotiate, and manage contracts at all levels
Experience in change management and full cycle procurement project implementation
Salary : $83,000 - $114,000
