What are the responsibilities and job description for the MATERIALS SUPERVISOR (Storeroom) position at Pilkington North America Inc.?
Essential Functions:
- Supports batch material scheduling and receiving to ensure a constant flow of material at all times. Directs all activities required to maintain sufficient inventories of all other raw materials, supplies, and maintenance items necessary for plant operations.
- Has the responsibility in all aspects of Storeroom and related activities for function regarding the disbursement, receiving, and storage of all Storeroom inventories.
- Analyze stock reorders for inventory accuracy, review min/max and reduce whenever possible to keep stores inventory at a minimum. Ensure Storeroom inventory does not exceed budget.
- Ensure all materials and services are received into the SAP system on a timely basis.
- Perform monthly physical counts of bagged raw materials and complete at least one full cycle inventory of stores per year.
- Work closely with engineers to identify obsolete stock and remove from inventory.
- Set up new Storeroom items into the SAP system as approved by the controller.
- Review and reconcile receiving discrepancies which cause blocked invoices due to quantity in SAP.
- Reports monthly batch and coatings usage.
- Establish an adequate internal control environment. Ensure J-Sox requirements are met. A physical inspection of goods is performed upon receipt.
- Raw materials and Air Products invoices are matched to goods receipt prior to sending to AP for payment.
- Ensure batch materials, coating materials, and critical spares, and consumables inventory are ordered and delivered in a timely manner to ensure production is not impaired.
- Ensure capital spares purchased are properly identified and set up in stores.
- Review capital spares when up for re-order with the engineers to ensure the part is a critical spare before the item is added to inventory.
- Maintain effective relations with vending machines and vendor managed inventory suppliers that will contribute to plant`s specific objectives to enhance the operation.
- Maintain an open and close communication line with corporate purchasing to ensure corporate purchases comply with procedure and with plant requirements.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 to 5 years MRO storeroom management or industrial distribution experience (railway delivery experience a plus)
- Knowledge of computerized procure to pay systems (SAP experience preferred)
- PC proficiency with Microsoft Office software (strong Excel skills)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- HazMat experience and certification a plus
Qualifications Desired:
- Supervisory skills
- Basic Accounting
- Six Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing Certification – Greenbelt or above
Other Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position, the associate may work around moving machines, chemicals, and high temperature in an industrial environment.
- The associate occasionally must travel by commercial means or private transport.
- The role may involve prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Candidates must be able to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various working environments.
- The position also requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
