Shop Assistant
Job Overview
Pilgrim Van Builds is looking for a part-time, potentially full-time Shop Assistant to help with day-to-day operations in our van conversion shop. This position works alongside the shop lead to keep the workspace organized, assist with tools and materials, and complete hands-on projects throughout the build process.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in woodworking, cabinetry, construction, fabrication, custom vehicle builds, or learning a variety of skilled trades. The right person will have an interest in working with their hands, take pride in their work, and be willing to learn new skills.
Hours are flexible, with the ability to set your own schedule within shop hours. Ideal for students, trades learners, or anyone looking for part-time hands-on work with the potential to grow into a larger role.
Responsibilities
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe
- Retrieve, organize, and return tools and materials
- Assist with prep work, assembly, and fabrication
- Assist with woodworking, cabinetry, and interior van construction
- Measure, cut, drill, sand, and assemble materials
- Help with installation of components and hardware
- Assist with electrical, plumbing, insulation, and other aspects of van builds as skills develop
- Help load and unload parts, materials, and vehicles
- Follow directions and learn new tools, techniques, and construction methods
- Maintain a safe, efficient, and professional work environment
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred
- Comfortable working with your hands and learning new skills
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable and able to follow directions
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality of work
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is a plus, but not required:
- Woodworking or cabinetry
- Carpentry or finish carpentry
- Furniture building
- Construction or remodeling
- Automotive or RV work
- Electrical or plumbing
- General fabrication or manufacturing
- CNC operation
- Experience using table saws, miter saws, routers, drills, sanders, or similar tools

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
