Director Legal & Compliance
 

Pilatus is hiring a Director Legal & Compliance to join our team in Broomfield, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing Pilatus Aircraft USA Ltd's legal and compliance functions, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies across its operations. This role provides strategic legal guidance to executive leadership and serves as the primary authority for legal, regulatory, and trade compliance matters. A successful individual in this position will develop, implement, and maintain company-wide compliance programs, manage legal risk, and support the organization's business objectives while ensuring ethical and lawful operations and act as a central point of contact for Legal, Compliance, and Trade Compliance. What you do

• Develops, formalizes, and maintains a comprehensive legal and compliance framework, including an export management and compliance program, based on existing policies, procedures, Group standards, and industry best practices
• Ensures company-wide compliance with applicable domestic and international laws and regulations, including corporate, commercial, employment, trade, and regulatory requirements (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, CBP, and other relevant laws)
• Provides legal advice and guidance to executive management and internal stakeholders on business transactions, contracts, regulatory matters, and risk mitigation strategies
• Acts as the primary Legal & Compliance liaison to the Group General Counsel, ensuring alignment with Group policies, escalation of material legal and compliance matters, and consistent application of legal standards
• Reviews, drafts, negotiates, and manages commercial contracts, including customer, supplier, service, distribution, licensing, and confidentiality agreements
• Oversees the company's commercial contracts lifecycle, including contract templates, approval processes, risk assessment, execution, amendments, and record retention
• Monitors restricted and denied parties lists, U.S. sanctions programs, and “Know Your Customer" requirements to ensure compliance and prevent prohibited transactions
• Designs and delivers legal and compliance training programs for employees, with a focus on trade compliance, ethics, and regulatory awareness
  

 

What you bring

• Master's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business, or a related field; Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification strongly preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal, compliance, and/or trade compliance roles, preferably in an international or regulated industry
• Proven experience leading and developing compliance or legal professionals
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise senior leadership and collaborate effectively with Group-level stakeholders
• Experience working with external counsel, regulators, and compliance service providers
• Relevant professional certifications or bar admission are a plus
  

What we offer

• The salary range for this position is $145,000 - 190,000 per year depending on experience. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
