Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist our Optometrists in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our optical practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and patient care practices, along with excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary tests and measurements to assess patients' vision and ocular health.
- Assist Optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and managing equipment.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education to patients regarding contact lenses, glasses, and general eye health.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure a clean and safe environment for patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the optometry team to enhance patient experience.
- Assist in pediatric eye exams and provide care tailored to younger patients.
- Operate electronic health record systems such as Epic for efficient patient management.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Understanding of physiology related to vision and eye health.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to optometry.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques for maintaining hygiene standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy.
- Background in managing medical records effectively.
- Strong patient care skills with a focus on enhancing the overall patient experience.
- Familiarity with optical equipment and procedures is preferred.
