What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Bettner Vision?
~ COVER LETTER STRONGLY RECOMMENDED~
About Us
Bettner Vision is a family optometry practice in Colorado Springs committed to delivering exceptional patient care with professionalism, precision, and heart. We hold every member of our team to high standards, and we take pride in the environment we have built — one where clinical quality, cleanliness, and teamwork are non-negotiable.
The Role
We are looking for a dedicated Optometric Technician to join our clinical team. The right candidate is dependable, professional, and genuinely open to contributing wherever the practice needs them.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will perform standard optometric pretesting including autorefraction, keratometry, non-contact tonometry, visual field screening, Optos imaging, OCT, corneal topography, and lensometry. You will collect and document patient history, administer dilation drops per standing orders, prepare and stage exam lanes before each appointment, and support contact lens fittings and trial procedures as directed by the optometrist. You will also order contact lenses for patients, verify orders upon receipt, process returns and warranty replacements, and educate patients on proper lens care.
Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness is a core expectation of this role. Every team member is responsible for disinfecting equipment and patient-contact surfaces between each patient, thoroughly cleaning the pretest room and all exam rooms at the close of every clinic day, and ensuring all clinical areas are fully restocked and ready for the next morning.
Accurate documentation in our EHR system is required at all times, and all patient interactions must be handled in strict compliance with HIPAA. Every team member is expected to uphold OSHA standards and operate within the scope of practice defined by the supervising optometrist.
What We Expect
Every Bettner Vision team member is expected to bring a professional, team-first attitude to work every day. This means being flexible and fully open to any duties assigned by management. The practice's needs vary, and we expect every team member to respond to direction willingly and without pushback. That flexibility is not a preference — it is a standard.
What We Are Looking For
Prior experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician is preferred but not required for the right candidate. CPO certification through the American Optometric Association or a willingness to pursue credentialing is a plus. Above all, we are looking for someone who is reliable, professional, and ready to be part of a team that holds itself to a high standard every single day.
