Position title: Senior Operations Specialist
Reports to: Operations Manager
Status: Part-time, hourly, 20 to 30 hours per week, with weekend and evening duties, as needed
Salary range: $17 to $20 an hour
Background:
PikeRide is a local 501(c)3, launched in 2018, advancing community through human-focused transportation. PikeRide provides affordable access to ebikes for community members of all income levels and advocates for safe streets at the local and state level.
Position overview:
As our Senior Operations Specialist, you will help oversee our operation and mechanical teams and overall operations at the direction of our Operations Manager. You will help find trends in ridership, operations, ebike performance, and share information with staff to increase efficiency. You will assist our Operations Manager with disseminating organizational information to our operation and mechanical teams to ensure the team is moving forward cohesively.
In addition, you will work in the field performing bikeshare operations, ebike maintenance, and bike valet services at community events. The Senior Operations Specialist rebalances, changes batteries, and performs safety checks and field repairs of PikeRide’s fleet of public ebikes using company vehicles including van, ebikes, or etrikes. The Senior Operations Specialist will ensure all hubs and ebikes are well-kept.
The Senior Operations Specialist will maintain a safe and reliable fleet of ebikes by performing repairs and maintenance.
PikeRide’s team will train all hires on technical aspects of our bikeshare technology. Candidates will have experience with bike maintenance, repairs, and a willingness to learn.
Essential job functions:
Operations 90%:
· Utilizes computer software and smartphone app to perform duties and reporting requirements.
· Ensures that safety-related processes are in place and followed within the operations department.
· Works with team members on logistics for special events.
· Assists with equipment inventory and makes suggestions for appropriate part ordering.
· Installs, relocates, and repairs hubs.
· Fills gaps in operations team capacity, including executing all duties in the field or shop.
· Communicates with staff, riders, and community members to troubleshoot and report issues, creatively find solutions, and promote PikeRide.
· Abides by all transportation laws and operating procedures and maintains an acceptable driving record.
· Drives mid- to large-size vehicles and operates an ebike or etrike.
· Analyses field and hub targets, battery levels, and repair status to assist with operational plans.
· Prepares, loads, and unloads delivery vehicles.
· Performs visual and riding inspections, field maintenance, and cleaning of ebikes and hub equipment as needed.
· Performs visual vehicle inspections, reporting potential issues, and performing light repairs.
· Adheres to priority zones and hubs and follows standard operating procedures.
· Performs ebike maintenance and repairs.
· Keeps accurate records.
· Other duties as assigned.
Customer Service 5-10%:
· Provides customer support to troubleshoot rider and affordability participant issues.
· Interacts with bikeshare users and the public in a friendly and professional manner.
Qualifications and competencies:
· Excellent communication skills for a variety of audiences, both written and verbal.
· Experience with Microsoft Office software, smart phone apps, and the ability to learn new programs.
· Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
· Experience driving light- and medium-duty trucks.
· Willingness and ability to work evening hours and weekends.
· Ability to take on new challenges and find creative solutions.
· Ability to seamlessly shift priorities.
· Mechanical experience and skills with hand and power tools.
Work environment and physical demands:
· Repeatedly moves equipment weighing up to 70 pounds; including stooping and bending.
· Cycling up to 10 miles per day in urban areas.
· The person in this position frequently communicates with the public and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations over the phone, computer, and in person.
· Use hand tools with accuracy, weighing one to five pounds, for hours at a time.
· Operate a computer, smart phone, and tablet.
· Work and ride a bicycle outdoors and attend events in various temperatures including rain, cold, and heat conditions.
· Strong interest in bicycles and transportation.
· Geographical knowledge of Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, and Manitou Springs.
