Position title: Operations Specialist
Reports to: Operations Management Team
Status: Part-time, hourly, 10-25 hours per week, with weekend and evening duties, as needed
Salary range: $15 to $17 an hour
Background:
PikeRide is a local 501(c)3 launched in 2018, advancing community through human-focused transportation. PikeRide provides affordable access to ebikes for community members of all income levels and advocates for safe streets at the local and state level.
Position overview:
As our Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for bikeshare field operations, ebike maintenance, and bike valet services at community events. The Operations Specialist rebalances, changes batteries, and performs safety checks and field repairs of PikeRide’s fleet of public ebikes using company vehicles including van, ebikes or etrikes. performing basic repairs to the bicycles. The Operations Specialist ensure all hubs and ebikes are well-kept.
The Operations Specialist will maintain a safe and reliable fleet of ebikes by performing repairs and maintenance. PikeRide operates a fleet of electric-assist bikes so some minor electrical knowledge is required.
PikeRide’s team will train all hires on technical aspects of our bike share technology. Operations Specialists will report to the operations management team. Competitive candidates will have experience with bike maintenance, repairs, and a willingness to learn.
Essential job functions:
Operations 90%:
• Communicates with staff, riders, and community members to troubleshoot and report issues, creatively find solutions, and promote PikeRide.
• Abides by all transportation laws and operating procedures and maintains an acceptable driving record.
• Drives mid- to large-size vehicles and operates an ebike or etrike.
• Utilizes computer software and smartphone app to perform duties and reporting requirements.
• Reviews field and hub targets, battery levels, and repair status.
• Prepares, loads, and unloads delivery vehicles.
• Performing visual and riding inspections, field maintenance, and cleaning of ebikes and hub equipment as needed.
• Performing visual vehicle inspections and reporting potential issues.
• Adheres to priority zones and hubs and follows standard operating procedures.
• Performs ebike maintenance and repairs.
• Keeps accurate records.
• Other duties as assigned.
Customer Service 5-10%:
• Provides customer support to troubleshoot rider and affordability participant issues.
• Interacts with bike share users and the public in a friendly and professional manner.
Qualifications and competencies:
• Excellent communication skills for a variety of audiences, both written and verbal.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, smart phone apps, and the ability to learn new programs.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• Experience driving light- and medium-duty trucks.
• Willingness and ability to work evening hours and weekends.
• Ability to take on new challenges and find creative solutions.
• Ability to seamlessly shift priorities.
• Mechanical experience and skills with hand and power tools.
Work environment and physical demands:
• Repeatedly moves equipment weighing up to 70 pounds; including stooping and bending.
• Cycling up to 10 miles per day in urban areas.
• The person in this position frequently communicates with the public and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations over the phone, computer, and in person.
• Use hand tools with accuracy, weighing one to five pounds for hours at a time.
• Operate a computer, smart phone, and tablet.
• Work and ride a bicycle outdoors and attend events in various temperatures including rain, cold and heat conditions.
• Strong interest in bicycles and transportation.
• Geographical knowledge of Downtown Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, and Manitou Springs.
