Pike Creek Mortgage is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience
- Experience using Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS)
- Working knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs
- Analyze borrower income, assets, credit, and collateral to determine loan eligibility and compliance with investor and regulatory requirements
- Review loan files and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to underwriting guidelines
- Issue loan approvals, conditions, suspensions, and denials in a timely manner
- Review and clear underwriting conditions to facilitate loan closings
- Maintain current knowledge of agency, investor, and regulatory guidelines
- Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively with loan officers, processors, and management
- Respond to quality control audits and post-closing reviews as needed
- Generate and manage daily underwriting pipeline reports to ensure service level expectations are met
- Work collaboratively with processors, loan officers, real estate agents, title companies, attorneys, and other third-party partners
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making while balancing risk and customer service
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- FHA, VA, and USDA underwriting certifications preferred or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
