Position Summary:
The Kingsley-Pierson Community School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve as a Middle School Math and Technology Teacher at Pierson Middle School. This position includes teaching 6th and 7th Grade Mathematics and providing Technology instruction for students in grades 5–7. The successful candidate will foster a positive learning environment, utilize effective instructional practices, integrate technology into learning experiences, and support the academic, social, and emotional growth of middle school students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Mathematics Instruction (Grades 6–7)
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction based on Iowa Core Standards and district curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Analyze student achievement data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
- Differentiate instruction to support students at varying levels of readiness and ability.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with students and families.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and continuous improvement of instructional practices.
Technology Instruction (Grades 5–7)
- Develop and implement technology lessons that promote digital literacy, computational thinking, and responsible technology use.
- Teach students foundational technology skills, including digital citizenship, productivity tools, keyboarding, research skills, and emerging technologies.
- Support student learning through technology integration and project-based learning opportunities.
- Stay current with educational technology trends and best practices.
- Assist students in developing problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills through technology-based activities.
General Responsibilities
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and engagement.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management practices.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities and ongoing professional growth activities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, instructional coaches, and administration.
- Support school-wide initiatives, including PBIS, MTSS, and other district programs.
- Attend required meetings, conferences, and school events.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and district information.
- Adhere to district policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) or ability to obtain appropriate licensure.
- Endorsement in Mathematics preferred.
- Endorsement or demonstrated experience in Technology Education, Computer Science, or Educational Technology preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Knowledge of middle school instructional practices and adolescent development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics.
- Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and other educational technology tools.
- Experience using student achievement data to inform instruction.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties associated with classroom instruction and supervision of students.
- Ability to move throughout the building and participate in school activities and events.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies, procedures, and the Iowa Teaching Standards.
