Position Summary

We are seeking a litigation partner will lead the firm’s Hampton Roads-based litigation practice, overseeing active cases, supervising associate attorneys and staff, and driving growth in the firm’s commercial and employment litigation portfolio. This role is ideal for an experienced trial lawyer with proven leadership ability, an existing client base, and the desire to help shape the next phase of Pierce Jewett’s expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of complex litigation matters, including employment, business, and commercial disputes.
• Serve as first chair in trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Develop and implement litigation strategy from intake through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Supervise and mentor associates and legal assistants within the Norfolk office.
• Contribute to firm leadership and strategic initiatives, including business development and operational planning.
• Foster and maintain client relationships, delivering proactive, results-driven legal counsel.
• Collaborate with partners across offices to align litigation strategy with broader firm objectives.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with 5 years of litigation experience; prior first-chair trial experience preferred.
• Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Demonstrated success in managing client relationships and originating business.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills; ability to lead and inspire a litigation team.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in growing the firm’s presence in the Richmond market.

• Base Salary: Competitive partner-level base compensation commensurate with experience and origination.
• Performance Incentive: Annual bonus tied to billable hours, origination, and overall firm growth.
