Summary

Why it's a great opportunity: In this critical oversight position on the maintenance infrastructure role, you will be responsible for directing and managing the activities of all maintenance programs within the Utilities Division of Planning and Public Works. This will include specialized maintenance work of multiple advanced wastewater treatment plants, drinking water systems, large networks of pumping and collections systems, multiple warehouses, and related facilities.

Core Daily Responsibilities

  • Ensure all wastewater and water system facilities and infrastructure function at the lowest life cycle cost using asset management strategies and principals.
  • Prepare and maintain various personnel and work-related records and reports.
  • Prepare the annual/biennial maintenance budget and monitor expenditures, forecast personnel requirements, authorize purchases, submit capital expenditure requests, and update budget estimates quarterly.
  • Manage the maintenance of complex systems including wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, wastewater and stormwater pump stations, and other utility related facilities.
  • Identify process improvements and make decisions related to policies and work practices.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance of programs to achieve maintenance and operations objectives, and to meet established levels of service.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to the scheduling and execution of maintenance activities.
  • Cost center manager and approval authority for critical industrial equipment, parts, materials, and supplies essential for the maintenance and operation of the County’s wastewater treatment facilities, collection, and potable water systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • Additional equivalent experience beyond the stated below may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience related to water and wastewater utility infrastructure maintenance, five (5) years of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration, or a related field.
  • A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Role

In addition to the minimum experience, an employee in this role must have and maintain at least two of these licenses or certifications:

  • Washington State Electrical License
  • Wastewater Collection Personnel Association Certification Level 3 (WWC-III) or higher
  • WA Wastewater Operator Group - I certification or higher,
  • Water Distribution Specialist or higher
  • Cross-Connection Control Specialist
  • Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 or higher

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) Certification.

Salary : $123,873 - $160,445
